Telenor and NENT merge Canal Digital and Viasat Consumer. The new company will have over 1.25 million customers and a turnover of NOK 7 billion.

The transaction is expected to generate annual synergies of up to NOK 600 million, Telenor said in a press release on Tuesday evening.

The company will have head offices in both Oslo and Stockholm, but will also have a significant presence in Copenhagen.

– “We are pleased to announce this joint venture with Telenor. Combining Viasat Consumer and Canal Digital is a perfect combination. We are creating a large-scale TV operator that will create value for customers and owners, and that can compete with large and international competitors,” says Anders Jensen, CEO of NENT Group.

Bjørn Ivar Moen becomes CEO of the new company. He is currently CEO of Canal Digital and Telenor Broadcast.

The transaction is expected to be completed during the first half of next year.
