Several measures to boost the finances of families with children are being strengthened or introduced in the proposed state budget for 2022.

“This is a good state budget for families with children,” economist Thea Olsen in Danske Bank told NTB.

She says that although the outgoing government has already boosted the finances of families with children in recent years, they have included a number of measures in next year’s budget which will further improve their finances.

“This is especially true if you have more than one child. This increases the parental deduction to NOK 25,000. It also means that families with expenses for daycare and after-school care receive up to NOK 2,100 in reduced tax for each child after the first.”

“In addition, a very good scheme is introduced for the very most vulnerable families. A leisure card will help to cover expenses for leisure activities for children and young people. The subsidy scheme with free SFO is aimed at families with low income.”
