Although the ‘Corona summer’ in parts of the country did not turn out as bad as feared for the hotels, it is now going downhill for them in the cities, according to Dagens Næringsliv.

– “It unfortunately looks gloomy,” says hotel consultant Peter Wiederstrøm, who monthly analyzes the Benchmarking Alliance’s figures for most large hotel chains in this country.

According to the newspaper Dagens Næringsliv, the figures for Oslo and Gardermoen show a decrease in accommodation income per available room in August of over 70 percent compared with the same month last year. Bergen has a decrease of 62 percent.

Hotel director André Schreiner at Clarion The Hub in Oslo says that it has gotten worse in August.

– “It is simply scary,” he says.
