Electricity prices were 51.4 percent lower in the first quarter of this year than in the first quarter of last year.

This shows new figures from Statistics Norway.

The average electricity price was 26.8 øre per kilowatt hour in the first three months of the year.

Much rainfall and a high degree of filling in the reservoirs are cited as important explanations. At the same time, electricity prices were unusually high in the first quarter of last year.

The total price including grid rent and fees was 87.8 øre per kilowatt hour in the first quarter of this year. This is a 29.4 percent reduction from the same period last year.
