Elon Musk’s company, The Boring Company believes they can cut the costs of the Fornebubanen by building a solution for self-driving cars and minibuses.

The company recently had digital meetings with the transport committee at Parliament together with the Norwegian company Seabrokers, where former Minister of Transport Ketil Solvik-Olsen (Frp) is a business developer, writes bouw.no.

Frp mentions that the Musk company’s interest in the committee’s recommendation. The party believes The Boring company has presented a concept they believe has potential for the stretch between Oslo and Fornebu in Bærum.

The company of Tesla CEO Elon Musk is today building an underground system for self-driving cars in Las Vegas. The company was started in 2017. Now the company wants more information about Fornebubanen so that they can put more on the project.

FRP transport policy spokesperson Bård Hoksrud believes that they should be given the opportunity.

– “This is exciting both financially and environmentally. The Boring Company is already doing this in the United States. They think of autonomous cars without a driver and they make the tunnel construction cheaper and easier than what is laid out in the Fornebu alternative,” says Bård Hoksrud to the construction industry.
