There is an end to the requirement of passing a route memory test to drive taxis in Oslo and Akershus. From next summer, the change will apply to the entire country.

This means that in the future it will continue to be a requirement to have a satisfactory background and good health to get a license to drive a taxi, writes Aftenposten.

This means that citizens from EEA countries can start driving taxis in the metropolitan area the day after they have moved here, if they meet the other requirements.

The changes happen after Parliament decided to change the occupational transport law for taxis this summer. The Act enters into force on 1st July 2020. Oslo Police District has now chosen to repeal the requirement eight months before the Act enters into force.
