The first woman to become a platform manager of Equinor will soon join the ranks of the pensioners.

At the age of 33, Margareth Øvrum (61) from Skien became platform manager at Gullfaks A. She has been leading Equinor’s efforts in Brazil since October 2018, writes E24.

With 39 years at Statoil and then Equinor, Øvrum has been there almost as long as CEO Eldar Sætre. He has also recently announced his retirement after 40 years with the company.

Margareth Øvrum works at Equinor throughout the year. She will move her office from Rio to Bergen starting October 1st, according to an internal Group report on Tuesday. Leticia Andrade will then assume the position of country manager in Brazil, reporting to Øvrum.

In the internal announcement, Øvrum has received praise from the CEO.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Margareth for her long-term contribution to leadership within the Group and as a member of the management team of Equinor. She was a pioneer for women in this company and guided the careers of many of our best talents,” says Sætre among others.
