EU will need about as much gas in 2030 as today, notifies the European Commission Vice-President. Tord Lien is overjoyed.
Tuesday next week, the EU Commission will present a new energy package with securing supplies as the subject. The package will reveal that gas will be playing an imortant part for a long time, European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič said.
– Our assessment is that we will need more or less the same volume of gas today, between 380 and 450 billion cubic meters, he said during a visit to Oslo on Friday.
Thus Concerned Norwegian gas producers breathe a sigh of relief.
– This looks very good, says Petroleum and Energy Minister Tord Lien (FRP).
– When we have to invest quite a lot on the Norwegian shelf just to maintain the production at current levels, these are very good signals, he said.
