According to a new survey, one in three students has received financial aid from family members during the corona crisis.

More than 1,000 Norwegian students have been asked how they have done financially in the survey conducted by Sentio on behalf of Universitas and the Norwegian Student Organization (NSO).

A total of 31% of the students stated that they had to take money from their savings account in order to manage financially, while 30% answered that they received financial assistance from their parents.

A larger proportion of those who lost their part-time jobs than other students stated that they had to dig into their savings.

NSO leader Andreas Trohjell is concerned about the students and the social consequences of Norwegian students losing their part-time jobs.

“Students who work and pay taxes do not get the same safety net as other employees. It is an injustice we can not accept. In the spring, 50,000 students had to resort to loans,” he said.
