The Government is giving NOK 50 million in grants to companies so that they can seek expert help to reduce sickness absence.

NRK reported that the workers’ unions and the Government have agreed to allocate NOK 50 million to companies annually until 2022 to get employees on long-term sick leave back to work.

“There are many different reasons why one is on sick leave, and we want to see if getting an outside expert can help,” said Labour Minister Anniken Hauglie.

The initiative is part of the new IA or Inclusive Workplace agreement of January 2019 to December 2022.

According to the Minister of Labour, expert help includes psychologists, occupational therapists and conflict management experts.
