The turnover on this year’s Black Friday fell 1 percent compared to last year. At the same time, turnover in the so-called Black Week increased by a full 6.6 percent.

Kvarud Analysis collated the figures for Virke.

“The Black Friday campaign has moved from a day to a week campaign. This gives people more opportunities to avail themselves of the good deals,” said Bror William Stende, director of Virke trade union.

Turnover in week 48 increased by 36.6 per cent compared to last year. The strong growth is due to the shift of Black Friday from week 47 in 2018 to week 48 this year.

“If we look at the last three weeks as a whole, sales have increased by 2.5 per cent, of which the growth in retail trade has been 2.2 per cent. It gives a more accurate picture of the development. In context, the increase is not as drastic as the numbers indicate,” explaned Stende.
