The price of fertilizer has risen to more than NOK 10 per kilo in several places in the country. Yara warns of a limited supply of raw materials as a result of the war in Ukraine.

Yara raised the prices of its products on Monday.

“Prices in Europe started to go up a notch last week. We had no choice but to increase the prices,” marketing manager Anders Trømborg in Yara Norway told the newspaper Nationen.

In several places in the country, the fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer price has exceeded NOK 10 per kilo. Felleskjøpet, distributors of fertilizer, also announced a price increase after Yara increased its prices.

Trømborg justifies the price increase with an extreme cost burden and a very limited offer.

“Many raw materials and input factors increased in price. New sanctions last week mean that we can no longer buy raw materials from Russian trading partners,” he told the newspaper.

Yara says that because the future is so uncertain and the challenges so great, they do not yet know whether prices will rise further.
