Police Directorate has signed a contract with Finnish Gemalto Oy for production and distribution of Norwegian passports and other ID cards over the next eight years. The deal is worth 1.5 billion NOK.

The contract is signed after a competitive tender. The winner is the Finnish subsidiary of French Gemalto.

The agreement covers products and services related to the ID issuance, ID documents and identity check to the Police Directorate, Immigration and Foreign Affairs. Other public agencies can use thisagreement.

Both passports and ID cards will use the new award-winning Design from Oslo company Neue Design Studio.
