The US-owned streaming service HBO will raise prices in Norway due to production of local series.

The subscription will increase from NOK 99 to 109 a month in Norway, writes E24.

HBO writes in an email to its subscribers that the price increase is due to the fact that it costs to invest in local series, such as the Norwegian series “Beforeigners”. The company is also stepping up production of other international series.

The last time HBO increased their prices was in 2018.

The price change applies from 21 November. In the same month, Disney and Apple will launch a new streaming services. Disney plans for the entire catalog to cost around $ 62 a month, according to Nettavisen.

The government proposes to introduce a Norwegian share of the streaming services Netflix, HBO and Amazon in the State Budget for 2020. Before the change can take effect, the broadcasting law must be amended and sent out for consultation. It is not yet determined how much Norwegian language Norwegian Ministry of Culture will require.
