Hydro resumes production at a mine in Brazil
Hydro has resumed production at Paragominas bauxite mine in Brazil, the company said.
As a consequence, production at Hydro’s aluminum refinery Alunorte will also be normalized, Hydro said in a press release on Saturday afternoon.
Production at the Paragominas mine was temporarily halted after a high-voltage mast that overturned on December 18 led to power outages. As a result, production at the Alunorte alumina refinery was reduced to between 50 and 70 percent.
There were no personal injuries, damage to production equipment or environmental impact related to the power outage, the company said.
