People who use travel insurance to cover canceled holiday trips have submitted 48,000 claims for a total of NOK 220 million, estimates If.

The Norwegian customers of If and European Travel Insurance have been able to cancel their holidays, no matter when in the future they should have taken place. This has resulted in a huge amount of demands.

Payments to private individuals vary between a few hundred and up to several hundred thousand kroner, the company says. In total, If estimates that the 48,000 claims are close to a total of around NOK 220 million.

– “Our customers have signed up and received large sums that they can now use for other activities or expenses this summer,” says If’s CEO Morten Thorsrud.
