The furniture giant IKEA has raised the price of certain furniture by up to 50% – it blames the higher prices on the corona pandemic.

IKEA estimates that the average price increase for the goods they sell is around 9%, the newspaper The Guardian writes.

“For the first time since the cost increases began to affect the global economy, IKEA will raise prices. The increase in prices is global, but will vary from country to country,” a press contact for Ikea in Sweden stated.

The company said that the price increases for raw materials, transport, and logistics, in addition to the global logistics problems related to the pandemic, are driving the higher prices.
