Unemployment among immigrants is now at 9.2%. For the rest of the population, the unemployment rate is 2.7%.

Unemployment among immigrants rose from 5% in the 4th quarter of 2019 to 9.2% in the 4th quarter of last year. In the rest of the population, unemployment rose from 1.5 to 2.7%, according to new figures from Statistics Norway (SSB).

“The increase in both population groups must largely be attributed to the corona crisis, which has affected working life,” the SSB writes.

The report also states that there was a minimal difference in unemployment between men and women among immigrants in the 4th quarter of 2020, 9% and 9.3%, respectively.

For the rest of the population, the difference was slightly larger. For men, it was 3.1%, and for women, 2.3%. The increase in unemployment was slightly more substantial among men in both population groups.
