On Saturday, electricity prices fell to the lowest level since 2015. Much wind power coming from Europe, low demand, and all the rain in recent days were the reasons.

On Saturday, the electricity price fell to 14.6 øre in Eastern Norway and to 9.2 øre in Northern and Central Norway wrote Dagens Næringsliv newspaper. These were the lowest prices recorded since 2015,and showed a marked drop since the high electricity prices this winter. Low demand on weekends was probably one of the reasons for the fall in prices.

“It has rained heavily lately, in addition there is a lot of snow melting in southern, central and northern Norway and this has led to high production of hydropower both in Norway and Sweden” said power analyst, Ole Thom Djupskås of Refinitiv to NRK news.
