Men still dominate income in Norway

On average there is only one woman among the ten with the highest income on the list in Norway.

The women who participate in the counties TOP10 are often young heirs, the newspaper said VG who has gone through the lists.

Akershus differs slightly where there are four women among the Top 10, while Finnmark Hedmark, South Trøndelag, Troms and Vest-Agder, do not have any.

As many as nine of the counties have only one woman among the top ten on income top.

– We see the remains of an old social structure. The really high revenues in Norway are found among top managers of the large companies and investors in various business sectors, says Mari Teigen, director of the Institute for Social Research.

She believes, however, this is going to change.
– Awareness of women’s access to economic power and industry’s recruitment processes is changing.
We know that about 50 percent of the population are girls at the Norwegian School of Bergen. This will eventually create change, says Teigen.
