Ministry of Industry provides millions for entrepreneurship research
The Minister of Industry, Torbjørn Røe Isaksen of Høyre (H), wants to know more about entrepreneurs, and therefore provided NOK 5 million for research on entrepreneurial policy, growth, and innovation.
Around 80% of the 500 largest Norwegian companies are more than 100 years old. Røe Isaksen is curious whether this is because new entrepreneurs have been prevented from establishing themselves and growing up or if there are other reasons.
“We need more knowledge about innovation, entrepreneurship, and value creation in order to develop reliable, entrepreneurial policies. In order to ensure a sustainable welfare society, we depend on creating new, profitable jobs. Entrepreneurial companies are crucial for this,” said Røe Isaksen in a press release.
A group of researchers at the Department of Economics at the University of Oslo, led by professors Karen Helene Ulltveit-Moe and Andreas Moxnes, will spend two years on research.
