The oil service company ESS fires 58 employees and lays off 30 employees as a result of the decline in the oil industry.
Previously ESS had to reduce their staff from more than 1,000 employees last summer to 600 before the last cuts. The catering company is the largest player on the Norwegian continental shelf with the exception of Statoil’s own internal services, Sysla writes. The new job cuts arrive after Statoil terminated its contract with two drilling rigs from COSL Drilling.
– We use the level seniority for deciding who we are to let go when downsizing. We intend to bring the 30 person that are laid-off back to work after the summer because it seems that the activity level of the fixed installations will rise again then, CEO of ESS , Therese Log Bergjord, says to Sysle.
