More new enterprises

A total of 14 977 new enterprises were registered during the third quarter of 2016. This is an increase of 4 per cent compared with the same period in 2015.

Sole proprietorships accounted for 59 per cent of all enterprises in the 3rd quarter of 2016 and private limited liability companies accounted for 38 per cent. In comparison with the 3rd quarter of 2015, the number of new registered private limited liability companies increased by 11 per cent, but the number of new sole proprietorships increased by only 0.4 per cent.

Most new enterprises were registered within scientific and technical activities (14 per cent), construction (13 per cent) and retail trade (10 per cent).

Most of the new enterprises were registered in Oslo and Akershus in the 3rd quarter of 2016. Overall, 3 255 new enterprises were registered in Oslo and 1 820 in Akershus. Compared with the 3rd quarter of the last year, the number of new enterprises did not change in Oslo. However, the number of new enterprises in Akershus increased by 6 per cent.

The figures include all new enterprises except enterprises within agriculture, forestry, fishing and public administration.
