In 2019, 158,400 people were employed either in the oil industry or in related industries.

Furthermore, 68,300 people worked either on oil and gas extraction, in industries that build and furnish oil platforms, or industries that operate supply bases.

In these industries, there has been a decrease of about 15,000 employees from the peak year of 2014, Statistics Norway (SSB) writes.

If one includes employees from other industries, who are responsible for direct or indirect deliveries to the industry, the number amounts to a total of 158,400.
