Boliden will invest more than NOK 7.2 billion in zinc production at the factory in Odda in Ullensvang over the next three years.

The annual production capacity at Odda will be increased by 75%, from 200,000 to 350,000 tonnes of zinc. The investment amounts to a total of EUR 700 million and will be completed by 2024, the company states.

The majority of the investment will be made in 2022 and 2023.

“This is one of the largest investments in Boliden’s history,” Mikael Staffas, CEO of Boliden, noted.

There will be a large number of new plants in Boliden Odda, including a new kiln and a new sulfuric acid plant. The company has received support from Enova and Innovation Norway.
