The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate estimates that 53 percent of Norway’s oil and gas resources have not yet been collected.

The so-called resource accounts have been settled at the turn of the year, and apply only to the oil and gas that it is possible to recover.

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate estimates that the total amount of petroleum resources on the Norwegian continental shelf is around 15.6 billion standard cubic meters of oil equivalents.

These are distributed as follows:

  • 7.3 billion have already been sold and delivered.
  • 8.3 billion remains to be produced.

Among the oil and gas that have not yet been collected, the Directorate estimates that 47 percent has not yet been found.

There is 4.4 billion cubic meters of oil equivalents that have been found and have not yet been produced.
