As of March 12, Nav has received 130 tips on companies that have laid off employees, but who continue to give them assignments.

It is the Free Trade Movement that writes about the high number of tips on social security fraud after the coronavirus sent a large number of workers home on furlough.

110 of the tips apply to companies that have laid off employees, while 20 of the tips apply to individuals who are laid off, but who continue to work. According to the website, most tips apply to retail trade (27) and building and construction (25).

– “If these tips are correct, it is very serious. We will, of course, be vigilant for this type of abuse. We can follow this up both through the ordinary control work in Nav and through local controls,” says Ole Johan Heir, Director of Nav control, to the Free Trade Movement.

He points out that tips are only an indication of possible social security fraud, but that all tips are considered.
