Never before have there been more jobs advertised in Norway than last year. According to the NAV, nearly half a million jobs became vacant last year.

NAV chief Hans Christian Holte says that several companies are struggling to find people with the right skills. A total of 484,000 positions were advertised, which is 30% more than in 2019.

“I think I want to say that I am most surprised at how quickly the labor market recovered through 2021,” Holte told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

He says he never thought the labor market would break records the year after the pandemic broke out. But he believes that 2022 could also be a good year for Norwegian workers.

“We expect that unemployment will fall further. There is a very high demand for labor now. Many companies report problems in finding people with the right skills,” Holte stated.
