Bergen Engines’ new owner Anthony Langley says some employees will lose their jobs after the takeover but does not yet know how many.

Langley is behind Langley Holdings, which he owns (100% ownership). At a press conference on Wednesday, he said that he could not guarantee all the 750 jobs at the factory, according to E24.

“I can not say that no one will lose their job – because they will. I do not know how many,” he said.

Langley added that he understands that there has been some uncertainty among the employees related to the takeover. He said that he looked forward to creating more stable conditions at the company.

No guarantees

He also emphasized that his holding company did not buy Bergen Engines to strip the company of valuables and resell it in three to four years.

Chief shop steward Idar Bruvik at Bergen Engines says he understands that the new owner cannot guarantee that all the jobs will be safeguarded.

“We are a large company… Langley will look at the overall organization. But I assume that things will happen in the right way and that the unions will be consulted,” Bruvik said.
