Lack of experience is the biggest obstacle to getting a job today, a new survey shows.

Respons Analyze carried out the report for Fretex Jobb. The report also shows that more than half of all Norwegians have considered applying or have applied for a new job in the past year.

That indicates that the pandemic has shaken up the Norwegian labor market, general manager Dag Atle Meinich-Bache in Fretex Jobb noted.

Low unemployment

“Despite the pandemic, unemployment is low, and there has been good activity in working life. It shows that the current government has guided us well through this challenging period. At the same time, there is still a way to go,” he stated in a press release.

In addition to revealing that there are major challenges in finding a job without experience and networks, the report shows that those who have become unemployed struggle both with finances and self-confidence.

Students

The numbers are also disappointing for students. Lack of experience, networks, and contacts is completely normal when you have just completed your studies.

The survey also shows that as many as four out of ten Norwegians find it difficult to write a job application.

“We see that the majority have difficulty presenting themselves in a positive light in a job application,” Meinich-Bache added.
