Many newspapers have lost large advertising revenues during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, there is an increase in subscribers, especially in digital services.

According to Klassekampen, the Amedia Group reports that the solid increase in new subscription sales from the spring break was not only short term.

“The growth in new subscribers held up well until the summer, and after the summer holidays the development has been very rapid,” says Pål Nedregotten, Executive Vice President in charge of subscription development and sales.

Schibsted, who owns Aftenposten, VG and Bergens Tidende, reports a good period. Polaris Media, which includes several local and regional newspapers, can say that there are very good sales figures for digital subscriptions.
