Many are now waiting to receive their tax money into their accounts. This happens in late June. Next year the refund can come earlier.
In the revised national budget, the Government informs about an IT project in the Tax Administration called Sirius.
When this is rolled out, there will be more changes around the tax return:
- You will receive the pre-completed tax return earlier than today.
- You will be able to provide tax returns on an ongoing basis
- The tax settlement will as a rule be completed right after the delivery.
- In practice, this means that many taxpayers in the future will receive the tax settlement refunds much earlier than today. As of today, the amount of the refund will be paid out a few weeks after the tax settlement is completed, the government states.
The Sirius project is scheduled to be completed in 2021. But the government now announces that the Tax Administration will be able to give an early tax settlement before the entire project is finished.
As of spring 2020, most taxpayers will receive the tax settlement refund before May 31 of the tax year, states the Government.
Those who get a knock and have to pay arrears, still don;t have to pay it earlier than now. Nor shall the interest supplement of residual tax payable by 31 May in the tax year be calculated, states the Government.
