Nordea has entered into an agreement with Gjensidige Forsikring for the purchase of all shares in Gjensidige Bank for NOK 5.5 billion.

The agreement also includes a long-term strategic distribution cooperation with Gjensidige in Norway, writes Nordea in a press release Monday morning.

“This is a major step for us and supports our strategy and ambitions to grow in the important Norwegian market. As the Nordic Bank’s largest bank, it is natural for us to join forces with the leading insurance company in Norway,” said Snorre Storset, Managing Director of Nordea Norway.

“This agreement means that many more Norwegians will get a relationship with Nordea, and we will serve them in the best possible way.”

Gjensidige Bank is one of Norway’s leading online banks. The bank offers private customers a range of digital banking services, mortgage loans, car loans, unsecured loans and savings and investment services online and through a network of solid business partners.
