Northern Norway needs more manpower

While the unemployment rate is getting higher in the southwestern part of Norway,  several businesses in Northern Norway   are having a hard time recruit people.

–   The Companies in Northern Norway clearly need to get better at “selling themselves”. Unemployed in the South and the West Coast will also need to keep their eyes open for job offers in this part of the country, ” the minister Anniken Hauglie said to the newspaper VG.

Both the travel industry and the construction industry in Troms and Nordland lacks qualified workers, Nav’s business survey of may 2016 shows. 14 percent of the companies in Troms report serious recruitment problems. Along with Nordland, this is the highest percentage in the country .

A NHO survey shows that 17.7 percent of companies in Troms need manpower, which they are unable to recruit. Nationally the average is about ten percent.
At the end of May, 80,300 people were registered as unemployed at Nav, 200 more than the previous month. Unemployment is now at 2.9 percent of the workforce.
