At a board meeting on Tuesday night, Nortura adopted an extraordinary increase in the wholesale prices of several types of meat and eggs to stem the cost growth that farmers in Norway are experiencing.

For pigs and cattle, the price increase is NOK 2 per kilo, while the increase amounts to NOK 1.50 for lamb and NOK 1 per kilo for eggs, the newspaper Nationen writes.

The price adjustment is 2.9% for cattle, 2.1% for lambs, 4.7% for eggs, and 5.5% for pigs.

Chairman of the Board Trine Hasvang Vaag in Nortura says that the increase will take effect from February 28.

The costs of everything from electricity, energy, and diesel to fertilizer have risen sharply, especially in the last six months. Vaag says that the price increase should be in line with the growth.
