Norway registers large increase in online shopping among the elderly

As expected, e-commerce has increased during the pandemic. The proportion is still highest among the younger, but the increase is greatest in the age groups over 55, according to Statistics Norway (SSB).

The proportion of the population between the ages of 16 and 79 who say they have shopped online in the last three months has increased by 11% compared with the same measurement period in 2020. 

In the age group 25–34 years, the proportion of those who shopped online increased by 11%. 

In the age groups 55–64 years, 65–74 years, and 75–79 years, it increased by 20%.
