A total of eleven projects in aquaculture, fisheries, and green shipping will receive a total of NOK 68 million over three years.

“The business community plays a key role in further developing Norway’s leading position in seafood and shipping. It is exciting to follow and support the great will to change we are witnessing in the industry these days. This is how we create new jobs and secure existing jobs for the future,” Minister of Fisheries and Marine Affairs Bjørnar Selnes Skjæran (AP) said.

According to Skjæran, the funded projects represent great opportunities for green transformation, digitalization, and streamlining of the maritime industries and sustainable seafood production. Companies along the entire coast are involved in the projects.

One of the projects that received funding is operated by Under Restaurant in Lindesnes, which will get NOK 6 million. The money will go to developing a completely new solution for the long-term storage of live seafood.

In Hammerfest, the company Forsøljenta received NOK 6 million from the Research Council for catching and raising small king crabs in cages in the Kvalfjord.

Bergensrederiet Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Skipsrederi AS received NOK 5 million for combining zero-emission technology and simulation models for ships and weather routing to save energy and reduce emissions.
