Norway’s richest

Shipowner John Fredriksen is still Norway’s richest, with a fortune of NOK 114 billion, according to Capital’s annual survey of Norway’s 400 richest.

According to the magazine, Fredriksen’s wealth has grown by NOK 1 billion from last year.

The country’s second richest is, as last year, Torstein Hagen of Viking Cruises, whose wealth is estimated at NOK 60 billion. Odd Reitan is in third place, with NOK 42.4 billion. The next two seats are held by Johan Johannson and Kjell Inge Røkke, with NOK 40 and 35.5 billion respectively.

The order of Norway’s five richest is unchanged from last year. Hotel investor Petter Stordalen was in the top ten list last year, but this year has dropped to eleventh place. His wealth is now estimated at NOK 26.4 billion.

Among the 400 richest, 51 women are listed. Margaret B. Garmann is still Norway’s richest woman and this year sits at 22 place – one place up from last year. She is estimated to have a fortune of NOK 9 billion.

Norway has 33 more billionaires this year than last year, which is a total of 341 Norwegian billionaires. The country’s 400 richest people have an average wealth of NOK 3.5 billion. In the past year, they have averaged NOK 150 million richer.
