Statkraft decided to buy 39 wind farms in Germany and four in France. In total, the wind farms produce 523 gigawatt-hours per year.

According to news bureau NTB, this is the first time Statkraft has owned wind farms in the two countries.

“This acquisition further strengthens our position as a leading renewable energy player in Europe and enables us to further develop our portfolio in Germany and France,” Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal, Executive Vice President for Wind and Solar Power in Europe, stated in a press release.

The seller is the wind power operator Breeze Three Energy. The parties agreed not to disclose the transaction value.

Statkraft is Norway’s largest energy producer. It is fully owned by the Norwegian state.
