Norwegian Air sued by American passengers

A group of American passengers who have not been reimbursed for cancelled flights is suing Norwegian in Riverside, California.

It is estimated that Norwegian owes customers around the world a total of NOK 2 to 4 billion, writes Bergens Tidende.

The law firm Bursor & Fisher is behind the class action lawsuit, which Norwegian must provide a response to by June 22. Media in the United States report that virtually all major airlines in the country are facing such lawsuits after the Coronavirus pandemic prompted virtually all travel to be cancelled.

As for the EU and Norway, the US has a requirement that cancelled flights be repaid within seven days. The US Department of Transportation has twice emphasized that airlines are obliged to reimburse customers when a claim is made.

Norwegian does not want to comment on the lawsuit. But previously press officer Andreas Hjørnholm commented to BT that the company regrets the long wait for reimbursements, but assures that those who want and are entitled to a refund, will get it.
