Norwegian students ask for help with high electricity bills

Many students in Norway struggle to pay high electricity bills, and the student body Velferdstinget Vest is asking the government for targeted measures.

One possible solution is to increase student support, leader Helena Haldorsen stated.

“Students and ordinary people with poor finances should not freeze compared to people with good finances. Now, that seems to be the case.

“Norway is a prosperous country, and it is tragic and a pity that we have elected representatives who have not given priority to lifting up those who have the least,” Haldorsen told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

For many students, the high electricity prices are something that affects them in everyday life. Many also depend on help from their parents to pay the bills, according to Haldorsen.
