In 2018, Norwegians bought for NOK 60 billion at foreign online stores and 68 billion in Norwegian.

This is stated in Statistics Norway’s recent report “Online shopping with payment cards across national borders”.

Of the amount of NOK 60 billion spent in foreign online stores, NOK 23 billion was spent on goods and NOK 37 billion on services. That’s almost five times as much as in 2010.

Statistics Norway has prepared the report on behalf of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Finance.

– “The retail industry faces increased competition from foreign online stores. This statistic gives us a better overview of the development in e-commerce to and from Norway,” says Minister of Trade and Industry Iselin Nybø (V) in a press release.

At the turn of the year, the 350-krone limit for food and beverage imports was removed. From April 1, the plan is to remove the 350-kroner limit for all other goods, such as clothing, shoes and electronics, so that you have to pay VAT from the first krone.
