People in Norway will drive more cars by 2050, not less, according to transport researchers. In particular, longer trips are expected to increase.

According to Aftenposten, the increase in car driving is believed to apply to distances in excess of 7 km.

At the same time, there is expected to be less cycling, walking and bus use, while the train share is assumed to be as large as today. The information is from fresh preparations for the National Transport Plan for 2022-2033.

It is expected to go in the opposite direction with air traffic, with the proportion of all journeys over 7 miles expected to fall from 30 percent in 2018 to 24 percent in 2050.
