In five years, the number of shareholders in the age group 18 to 29 has increased by almost 200%, according to figures from AksjeNorge, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reports.
According to communications adviser Vidar Korsberg Dalsbø in DNB, the current low interest rate level is one of the biggest reasons why young people are interested in the stock market.
“And then there are many who have looked to the stock market to get more for their money,” Dalsbø told NRK.
19-year-old Christian Li Sivertsen told the news channel that he started investing in shares and funds in 2020 to save money for his first home.
