Oil service giant Schlumberger is in dialogue with trade unions and employees to cut 400 jobs.

The Coronavirus epidemic and low oil prices hit the company hard.

– So far, it looks like we need to reduce 400 positions. Final packages will be used in conjunction with other measures to achieve the necessary adjustment of the workforce, writes Lianne Olsen, head of communications at Schlumberger, in an email to Stavanger Aftenblad.

Schlumberger’s operations in Norway have approximately 3,500 employees, and as of today 600 of these are partially laid-off and 180 fully laid-off. The company’s management has taken a 20 percent pay cut.
