A series of negotiations of wage settlements linked to the Norwegian oil and gas started this year. Thursday marks the beginning of a series of mediations in the industry.
Employee Organization Industry Energy (IE) must attend the mediation for three of their member unions: Those who work on the land, those working on the shelf, and those who work on mobile installations. The main requirement is that employers Norwegian Oil and Gas discuss the primary topic:
“In the settlement between Norwegian Industry and United Federation, a limit of 2.4 percent was placed. But when we sat at the negotiating table, it became clear that the counterparty would refuse to follow the primary topic. It took us five seconds to break off the negotiations,” says union leader Leif Sande in IE.
The Association Director Hilde-Marit Rysst in Safe reports strong willingness to strike from its members, who are furious over counterparty setting negotiations.
