Following the health authorities’ recommendations on face masks in public transport in Oslo and Indre Østfold on Friday, the online pharmacy Farmasiet sold 40,000 face masks per hour.
– “There is a lot of pressure on face masks now, as we expected. In the hour before the press conference, we sold around 40,000 face masks, and have been at a steady pace of 40,000 per hour also after the press conference,” says general manager Hans Kristian Furuseth in Farmasiet to E24.
It was Dagens Næringsliv that first mentioned the case.
He predicts up to 200,000 face masks to be sold on Friday.
Anne Margrethe Aldin Thune, communications director at Boots Apotek, also says that the demand has been great. Apotek 1 has introduced a maximum limit of 100 face masks per customer. It may also be relevant at Boots.
