The Southeast police district will employ 50 new police officers and the police district received over 1,100 applicants for the vacant positions.

– “1,150 applications have been received for the up to 50 positions that Sørøst police district will employ to achieve the political goal of two police officers per 1,000 inhabitants,” police inspector Frank Gran in Sørøst police district tells Telemarksavisa.

Southeast police district includes Buskerud, Vestfold and Telemark, and Jevnaker in Oppland.

Of the 1,150 applicants, 123 have been called in for an interview and on 11 September it will be decided who will get the around 50 positions.

The new employees will start work on 1 December. According to police inspector Gran, newly trained police officers have not reached the competition for the 50 jobs.
