Over 110,000 applications for unemployment benefits in under a week
Nav has received 113,500 applications for unemployment benefits in the last six days. Over 100,000 of these apply due to temporary layoffs.
105,000 of the applications apply because of temporary layoffs, and 8,600 are ordinary unemployment benefits, Nav reports Wednesday.
– “This means that Nav has received applications for unemployment benefits for less than 4 percent of the Norwegian workforce in less than a week. We are working hard to put in place the necessary adjustments in our computer systems, and are now doing everything we can to get people their money,” says Sigrun Vågeng, Director of Labor and Welfare. Nav also states that the increase in the number of applications will lead to increased processing time.
