Over 200 applications has been sent for the position as a production operator at a treatment plant on Odderoya in Kristiansand. The applicants are mainly from the oil industry.
The leader of the engineering sector in Kristiansand municipality, Terje Lilletvedt, says that the number of applicants is more than tenfold the numbers they used to get before the oil crisis.
– We never used to get as many applicants for a position. Normally we would have been happy with 20 to 30 applicants, but now there are ten times as many applicants for this type of work, Lilletvedt says to the local newspaper Fædrelandsvennen.
He says that most of the applicants were from the oil industry, and taht they are very well qualified.
– Although many from the oil industry needs to be trained in their new jobs, they often have a solid education, long professional experience and preferably experience in management positions or as project managers, Lilletvedt says.
